Summer Fling

Well, it's that time of the year again, when the hotness of the summer merges with great film-making and lights of glory emerge from movie theaters. A little history to enlighten you, STAR TREK 2009, THE DARK KNIGHT 2008, KNOCKED UP 2007, yeah, it was that good! wanna argue about it!? *arguing->* Some might say Transformers was the best movie of 2007, but I...blah, blah, blah.... point made now back to 2010.
Today's edition is called:
Summer Romance
yeah, I get to talk about the best chick-flicks coming out this summer 2010 =) Trust me, you will love them (I know since you read past Summer Romance. LoL)

[05.28.2010] Sassy Romance from Sex and the City 2, although everyone knows about this one. let's leave it like that.
Drinks on me!

[06.04.2010] Freaking hotness itself starring on Killers. First we have Ashton Kutcher, who I have to admit it's really really good looking *insert naked shirtless picture here*, and then there is Katherine Heigl who is the most curvaceous blonde I've ever seen, seriously. LMAO, im that funny.. you didnt get it? Look again.Lol, u what? oh, screw you! nah j/k

[06.27.2010] "Mission Impossible 4"? Nope (Hint: MI4 next year.). "Charlie's Angels 3"? No, again please. "Airplane! Underworld"? I guess you give up. It's Knight and Day, clever huh? My only comment about this movie is about the stars, did they discover the fountain of youth or somethin? Tom and Cam look so freaking good All the Fudging time! Unbelievable. Trailer time

[07.30.2010] Charlie St. Cloud. It looks good! I mean I just had to look at the movie poster, and I have to say I'm jealous of Mr. Efron's Eyes. there, I said it! he has beautiful eyes.

[08.13.2010] Inspirational film, just what I needed *deep breath, slowly inhales, slowly exhales* and one of Hollywood's most beautiful smiles =D stars on Eat, Pray, Love
yeap, Julia Roberts herself. Just out of curiosity, is it just me or Javier Bardem and Jeffrey Dean Morgan look a lot alike? They Do! O_o

I will skip Scott Pilgrim v. the World just because I think that will be under the Badass Edition.

[08.27.2010] What's that? paparazzies caught Drew Barrymore and her main squeeze Justin Long making out on top of a table?? Think again, they are Acting TOGETHER!!!!You still get to see them making out on top of a table, tho... on the set of Going the Distance, a movie about long distance relationships, which I don't think are made to last, IDK, life has the last word. Mi point said, give it a watch:

500 days of summer 2009

"This is a story of boy meets girl. But you should know up front, this is not a love story. "
*Spoilers might be included
Must start by saying that most indi movies are pretty much close to the really weird side of life and although 500 DOS is on the romantic kind of weird it's a really well done movie. Is it another chick-flick? you could say so, although not the cheesy expected-ending kind of movie.
While this movie was still on its production state and the clips and previews were just coming out I had to think over the title three, four times, and couldn't get over the idea that any summer could last that long =P thought of some fictional crap where winter, spring or fall did not exist, and then...there was light, the girl's name is Summer, so the story obviously recounts a love story on a 500 days lapse, really enlightening, hehe.
For the most part this was a very likable film (awesomely enjoyable if you ask me), but there are still people who couldn't relate to it, and I get it. The director (Marc Webb) plays with the timeline of the movie all along, and some might need to watch it at least twice to fully understand its plot or the order of the events. One moment you see the couple (Joseph Gordon-Levit as Tom and Zooey Deschanel as Summer) living the most relationship-like moments and next you see them splitting up or having an empty moment.
I love the movie because its pretty simple in an odd way; simple since the message it delivers tries to relate to most of those who haven't fully succeeded in the complex game of love. The actors do an awesome job, and the director deserves an Oscar; you don't get to see the hot chick with the buffed up guy (nothing wrong with that, though), these are down to earth looking people, must say they are not ugly in any way, most definitely cute and not over done.
If you wanna see this movie take into consideration that, as said on its trailer, "this is not a love story, it's a story about love", so you can expect anything to happen. PS: expect cold-hearted love.
ha! almost forgot... the soundtrack rocks. Faves: Us by Regina Spektor (you should check her music out, pretty cool...i recommend: Fidelity, Samson, and Better... just saying), You Make My Dreams by  Hall & Oates, Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap, and She's Got You High by Mumm-ra.

Before break-up feelings>>
Tom: I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps.
Post break-up feelings >>
Tom: I hate her crooked teeth. I hate her 1960s haircut. I hate her knobby knees. I hate her cockroach-shaped splotch on her neck. I hate the way she smacks her lips before she talks. I hate the way she sounds when she laughs.

13 going on 30 2004

"Thirty, flirty and thriving."

Number one reason why I love this film is because it's a chick-flick, and I can't live without chick-flicks. Even though they could be cheesy and predictable most of the times, they let out within me a feeling that aims for optimism in the world of love(<-Cheesy part), and the main character struggles through the entire movie to finally end up with the other awesomely HOT/cute character in the movie (<<< the predictability).
13 going on 30 certainly goes beyond expectations, with the above characteristics included. This movie is sooo much fun together that I could watch it everyday for the rest of my life, not to mention that the music selection is sooo freaking good. Bear with me, we have: Thriller (with the best choreography included), Jessie's girl by Rick Springfield, Vienna by Billy Joel (beautiful), Burning down the house by Talking Heads, and What I like about you by Lillix, among others. How awesome are they?? Pretty awesome :P.
what else? uh, Jennifer Garner stars in this movie and it's hard to dislike a movie with her (with the exception of Catch and Release which seriously sucks, and maybe you could come up with a couple more); fictionally you are granted your ever long wish of getting-older-and-leaving-your-parents-behind; and the most awesome retro collection of clothes.
The acting is top of the line with Garner doing a great job by acting extremely innocent, such naivety is unbeatable, the comedy is subtle but more than enough, and of course you get your romantic sex-free scenes.

Becky: I like your dress.
Jenna: That's because I have these incredible boobs to fill it out!
